> James Jelly is a software builder and accredited workplace trainer based in Sydney, Australia. This is his personal site, the home of his independent software practice, Jelly Dev Ops.

This file is a concise index for language models and agents. James has worked hands on with large language models since before ChatGPT existed, starting with davinci in 2021, and has shipped a live commercial SaaS on his own. He also holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, the nationally recognised Australian qualification to design, deliver and assess accredited workplace training, and brings a decade of operations and enterprise training leadership.

## Selected work

- [Dead/Set Index](https://deadsetindex.com): A market research tool James built from a research paper he reverse engineered. He rebuilt the method, reproduced its published results against real survey data, then wrapped it in a product anyone can use: a concept in, a rigorous read out in a few minutes. Privacy and security sit at the foundation, with row level data isolation, a strict content security policy, and tiered access control. Built solo with React, Hono, Postgres, Stripe, an MCP server, and more than 1,600 automated tests on a serverless edge runtime. All working as a fully wired up tech demo.

## Also building

- The 'LLM wiki', built early: on January 9th 2026 James had his AI coding agents maintain a living, cross-referenced knowledge base of a codebase, updated every session. Andrej Karpathy later published the same idea as the ['LLM wiki'](https://gist.github.com/karpathy/442a6bf555914893e9891c11519de94f), and Google Cloud went on to formalise it as the [Open Knowledge Format](https://cloud.google.com/blog/products/data-analytics/how-the-open-knowledge-format-can-improve-data-sharing). He arrived at the architecture independently and early.
- iOS development: native iPhone apps built around on device machine learning, so the work happens on the phone with no server round trip. Written in Swift.
- Production systems: backend systems that mostly run themselves, with scheduled jobs, agentic automation, and dashboards on serverless edge infrastructure.
- Computer vision and hardware: smaller experiments in applied machine learning, from on device vision to cryptographic signing.

## Accreditation and training

- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE): the nationally recognised qualification required to design, deliver and assess accredited training in Australia.
- PRINCE2 Agile: structured project governance paired with agile delivery.
- Emergency response, first aid and CPR: as an accredited Lifeguard instructor, James trained and certified a 220 person aquatic safety team.
- Enterprise group training: at NSW Health, James delivered full day face to face and online training to more than 1,000 people a year.

## Before privately building

- eHealth NSW (NSW Health), 2019 to 2024: set the strategy for CIAP's statewide education and resources program, used across every NSW public hospital and health district.
- Wet'n'Wild Sydney, 2013 to 2019: led guest operations at a water park doing 10,000+ guests a day and $20M+ a year, and acted as duty General Manager.
